One day not too long ago the employees of a large company in St. Louis, Missouri returned from their lunch break and were greeted with a sign on the front door. The sign said: "Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym."
At first everyone was sad to hear that one of their colleagues had died, but after a while they started getting curious about who this person might be.
The excitement grew as the employees arrived at the gym to pay their last respects. Everyone wondered: "Who is this person who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he's no longer here!"
One by one the employees got closer to the coffin and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood over the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul.
There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself. There was also a sign next to the mirror that said: "There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU.
You are the only person who can revolutionize your life. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success. You are the only person who can help yourself.Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes.
Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life.
"The most important relationship you can have, is the one you have with yourself."

LIVING YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST

I would like to share with you a story I came across a few days ago.A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
Next he picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly until the pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous yes.
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now", said the professor as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognise that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—your faith, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.The sand is everything else---the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.”
One of the students raised her hand and asked what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple cups of coffee with a friend”.

There are many lessons to be learnt from the above story. Firstly, is to value time. Just how big is our “mayonnaise jar of life”? We simply don’t know. Maybe there are space left in our “jar” or it is almost “filled to the brim”. So, from now on, ponder on your life. Where have you spent it on? “Sand” or “golf balls”?
Next, we must know how to prioritise. Fill the jar with the golf balls first. In short, invest time and emphasise on matters that means the most to you. Don’t neglect your parents for the sake of your job. Take time off for vacation with your family. Exercise and do regular medical check-ups because your family, money and material gains will not matter if you are always sickly. Also, don’t forget to allocate time for religion. Once you are able to balance your life and manage your time effectively, you can be sure of living your life to the fullest.

SHOULD SCHOOL HOURS BE EXTENDED ?
The present hours of study can only develop a partial growth of our potential, thus falling short of our national education philosophy.
Extending schools hours can do wonders to promote wholesome growth of our potentials.
Firstly in students' academic pursuit, subjects such as Physics,Chemistry and Biology can ideally be taught with proper preparation and with interesting Audio and Visual support. Preparing powerpoint slide with added sound needs time. Not like the chalk and talk as at present.. The teacher does not rush through the syllabus, the touch and go affair. Remember Practice makes perfect. By extending school hours, more exercises and enrichment exercises can be given to reinforce learning. Students don’t need tuition anymore. The reason why tuition centers spring up like mushrooms is because of inadequate quality of teaching. Not only that the teacher can now advise, supervise and revise with the students at their own pace, thus acoomodating quck and slow learners. ……..

ENGLISH LANGUAGE CAMP 2008
All together: The students getting together to take a group photograph.

ENGLISH Language camps are not always held outside the school. But one school from Kedah was ambitious enough to take its students outside the state. SMK Sultan Badlishah (SMKSB) from Kulim, Kedah, recently organised its first English Language Camp, treating 41 students to a fun-filled and educational seaside weekend at Tanjung Bungah in Penang.
The students took part in quizzes, sketches, sandcastle building, chain story telling, mini debates and other group activities at the two-day camp held at Tanjung Bungah Beach Resort. Camp coordinator Zuriati Osman and English Department head Foo Kim Hwa explained that the school wanted to take the students to a different environment to encourage them to mingle and communicate in English.
"We chose Penang because it is nearer to home and we want to let the students experience a night stay at a hotel, explore the natural environment like the beach and take part in seaside activities,"she said.
In line with the Education Ministry and the National Unity and National Integration Department’s Student Integration Plan for Unity (RIMUP), the participants were selected to make up a diversified group of students from different classes, forms and ethnic groups. Foo said the mixture of students from Form One to Form Six would encourage the younger ones to make friends with students from upper forms and observe their seniors’ communication skills.

Improving Your English Language
By Chin Sik Sean ------ SMKSB ENGLISH TEACHER
Learning English is like learning other languages. As an English teacher, I personally believe in using the language as much as possible and at every opportunity available. So students should not be afraid to use English outside class by speaking to every one in English. There is nothing to be shy about making mistakes. Making mistakes is all part of learning, so there is no need to be afraid of making grammatical errors or using bad sentences. If you make a mistake, learn from it and don't repeat it.
Rote learning of grammar rules is not encouraged. What is more important is using those rules in real life conversations. By listening to how good English speakers--not necessarily native speakers--talk, you will learn new sentence structures even before you learn it formally in school. Listen to the news, listen to advertisements, attend seminars, talk to people--these are all part of learning English.
Reading as much English language materials as possible is vital if you want to improve your English faster because this is where you will be exposed to all types of texts, from simple to very academic. Have a good English dictionary in hand each time you read. A good dictionary provides multiple meanings and sample sentences for each word. Avoid getting a bilingual dictionary because you will only learn the translation of words, not how to use those new words in real situations.
Equally important is learning to write. In order to write well, you must have enough vocabulary to construct sentences and string them into interesting paragraphs. This can be achieved by extensive speaking and reading. In addition, to help you in the process of writing, there are books available in shops that contain exercises that show you step-by-step how to write better essays or paragraphs. Most students would immediately jump into the writing topic without first planning what to write. They will end up deviating the topic given.
As you can see, learning English is not only about being excellent in grammar rules. Speaking, reading and writing are all necessary to be good in the language, overall. Attending tuition classes alone is insufficient in improving your English language proficiency. The majority of tutors focus on examination topics and how to score in your exams. Obtaining an "A" in the English paper doesn't mean that you are able to perform well as a user of the English language. Use the language in your daily life and see if you are really able to use the language. Ultimately, your own effort to improve will determine if you will do well in the language.

Sour,Sweet,Bitter and Spicy- The Life Cycle of Our Life
As we are born to this world, to the earth filled with adventures, fancy and surrounded by dreams that we sometimes wish to walk all the way through and sometimes rather not; the first thing in the phase of existence, we cry. Why don’t we born with laughter as an alternative of cry? There are several of theories came out. Some thought it is for the reason that babies ought to cry to seize air however just the once they born with no crying, they will leave us forever. Some will just said it is the natural as we being form to begin the new life.
After taking a long thought about the matter, there’re not even a bit of the thought that interests me.Why babies born have to cry? I can say that it might be those babies know him or her is going to face so much unforgettable thing in front of them. We know are we going to be happy or not. When a baby born, we will close the eyes, a baby does not know how to speak or even smile. We learn smile just after a while we open the eyes and the first thing we see is the smile from the mother, a smile of relief and cheerfulness. We as human, gloomy until we weep, joyful until the tears drops; we cry when we defeated and cry when we attain achievement. We remain silence when we give up for this life, unable to shift ahead any longer. No doubt the first thing a baby does is cry, he cheering for the happiness to be born to the world. They are going to have the taste of sour, sweet, spicy and bitter in their future days. What life meant? When a baby born without tears, life means nothing for them, so why have to keep on? We, youth as an instance, the moment we born, we starting to learn the environment surround us. We have to learn how to speak our mother tongue language, new languages as well. The most awful part is how to put pen to paper and went to school either we like it or not. Studies make life miserable.
During school time, we are pleased because we have friends to share everything, together we have fun. Even me myself tears in eyes, but my heart that’s cry. Why? For the reason that I’m too happy, I’m not unaccompanied. We played all sorts of games together, we hiking, jungle tracking, seek and hide, camping, cooking, jumping there and here and even puppy love that we shared together, how’s the relationship goes. Family, brother who can I play and sometimes learn how to fight and quarrel too, a charming and loving parents, we went for the movies, having lunch and dinner together everyday. I’m such a fortunate man in the world. Life's such a bright and sweet!Anywhere there’s a time when I’ve been betrayed by friend, a very best friend, sour came into my life till the sorrow came into sight first time in my life.
My heart chopped into parts until I feel it’s going to stop beating. It cries until no tears any longer, the soreness that I will never put out of my mind. The enthusiasm to share and expectation from new friends was come to the end. No more, faith for them. The family that I can count on comes to the end, quarrel and disagreement, no more movies and meals together, no more laughter. It’s more painful when others happy while you been lock in a scary and dim cave. I’m all-alone, no one care about my feeling, and no one care what I’m doing. Lives seem a drama or a theater for me.Why life has so much sour, my heart can’t accept it. Facing people with an unpleasant looks. What is the meaning of live if my life such painful, hopeless and shady? Not a soul that I am able to share my sadness or even shoulder to cry on. Lives getting awful when I can’t obtain a superior result, yet teacher blame me for the laziness.
One night, I bear in mind I see at the star and cried loud to them, ‘Dear charming stars, why my life such a painful, why you seize my sweetness, I ought not to have it?” Unexpectedly, I heard a sound, a calm and pleasurable voice speak to me, as gentle as an angel does, “My dear little girl, life isn’t always the way you like. Life full of aromatic and hindrances, happy, sad, sorrow and excitement, you should sense the way to get pleasure from all of them. When there is sadness in front, there will be sweetness waiting in front, and in reverts. Think wisely little child, you not the only one who endure but also the people around you.” After whole night I thought of it, it’s time for me to strike back, I cannot let the fate make my mind up in such where should go or should do. I myself choose the path that I’ll go to discover.
The spicy in the life, try hundreds of approach to get back what l have lose. I study hard for my future, for my family and friends. I accept other friends into my life. I study days and night to acquire the best result. At last, I did it. I have everything back as well as the happiness of my family. The willingness to communicate and the hardness to express my feeling to them at last appreciate by them. They become friends where I share my happiness and sadness to them. Now, after going through all the sweetness, sour, bitter and spicy in my life, I finally become conscious; we, human being fresh and blood must learn from the past to be more mature and pleased in future. There’s nothing come easily and the success is not just around the corner but a long way to go.
